JULIEANN WORRALL HOOD

Wiltshire based sculptor Julieann Worrall Hood aims to capture the essence, the myth and magic, of the brown hare. She sketches them in the fields around her studio and then works up the drawings in 3 dimensions, to create her sketch sculptures. These are created either by weaving willow around a wire frame or using sculptors wire giving a 'scribble' effect.

Her slightly larger than life willow and wire Hares are mounted on a steel pole which can be pushed into the ground allowing easy display in the garden. The hares are roughly 1 metre in length and between 1.5m - 1.75m tall including the steel pole, depending on the pose. For a special occasion they look fabulous with white fairy lights wound around them and they can be fixed into a metal stand for display indoors or on hard standing.

Also displayed in our gallery are Julieann's Moongazing Hare and a charming ensemble of Cockerel and Hens. These too are woven willow and wire; they are floor standing and are approx 50cm tall.

All these pieces are finished in linseed oil but will need brushing over with further applications of linseed oil at least once a year if displayed outdoors. Julieann's sculptures are made to order thus giving each piece its own individual and very unique character.

These scuptures are also available made from chicken wire.
